“What the Hell” by Jackson Baer is a well written story-like presentation of God’s unfailing love for all humanity and how it relates to God’s judgments. I could identify so well with His story. He writes in a simple, non-confrontational, entertaining way for people of all backgrounds, yet is very profound. He has a humble and gracious spirit. Prayerfully read this book before the Lord and discover God’s inexhaustible love for you, your loved ones, and for all humanity. “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things” (Rom 15:13 NKJV). I thank God for the beautiful feet of this author.

This is a hot issue right now, with Rob Bell’s Love Wins in the crossfire and all (which partly got all of this started for me… after reading it [yes, I actually read the book, gasp!], I was encouraged to be brave enough to look for answers to those questions I’ve always asked, often in mental and emotional anguish, and which sadly, my pastor [whom I otherwise respect] just effectively denounced in his sermon this last Sunday :/)…

But unlike Love Wins (which I still think is a good book because it gets people thinking and talking about this), Jackson does not just ask questions and appeal to our emotions (which is essentially what Bell does, which is important, but is only a start), but also provides some answers and looks at things from the angle of logic and reason, as well as, of course, Scripture. :)
Jackson is not apologetic about where he stands, but he is not forceful either, leaving it open to the reader to decide where they will stand on this.

What The Hell was very interesting for thought, study and discussion. I found myself reading and not wanting to put the book down. I can’t say I have been persuaded one way or the other. I can say I have been provoked to think. That is and has always been important to me. If a person, teacher or preacher provokes me to think, study and try to dig for truth, then they have done a wonderful job. So Mr. Baer, you have done a wonderful job.
