What makes this book different from those already written? To be fair, there are good books on this subject and great minds are discussing it even now. This book talks in depth about issues that aren’t covered in great detail in other books and brings a fresh perspective to the issue of eternity and Hell. It also stays true to the earliest Scriptures we have and considers them to be inspired by God.

Here’s a look at the chapter list so you can get a feel for what the book is about:

Intro

1. Stuck In Traffic: When One Hour Feels Like Forever

2. You Speak Greek, I Read English

3. Gehenna, the Grave, and the Invention of Hell

4. Good Dad v. Bad Dad

5. What About the Old Testament?

6. All Merciful Now, Pent Up Rage Later?

7. When a Metaphor’s a Metaphor

8. Aren’t We Forgetting Something? I Didn’t Ask to Be Born…

9. It’s Either Good News or It’s Not

10. The Battle of Epic Proportions

11. Restoring a 57′ Chevy

Join the conversation and spread the word. We should discuss and debate these issues of Heaven, Hell, and eternity while continuing to love each other with genuine affection.

  2. I’ll definitely pick up the Kindle version; I’m always looking for new Victorious Gospel books to read through. When does it come out?

    • Just about one more month :) … November 1st is the target date. We are putting the finishing touches on the interior layout.

  8. Hi Jackson,

It’s interesting how, having been a Christian since childhood, I find myself both eager and nervous about exploring this idea. Part of me feels that there is something about the concept of hell I’ve learned thus far that is off kilter. I recall stumbling on George McDonald’s thoughts on hell a few years ago and the tidbit that I gleaned gave me hope that maybe things were different.

To be honest, I think much of the nervousness about approaching this subject is wrapped up in the “fear of man.” It threatens to be inconvenient and uncomfortable if I adopt beliefs that my family, friends and much of the Christian community can’t accept. There is also a mixture of vague whispers about not listening to preaching that “tickles the ears” or “preaching another Jesus.” So this makes me fear deception.

And yet if it’s true… if it’s true, oh how wonderful. If it’s true, I want to know it, no matter the temporary cost. There is a settled peace about the notion that God will ultimately redeem everyone.

I’m learning more to trust in the love of the Father. I suppose, I shouldn’t fear men or deceit, but rather trust His Spirit to guide me. Thanks for the post. Haven’t read Bell’s book yet or yours, but look forward to it. Sorry to write an entire BLOG on your page!

    • Hey Brandie,

I appluaud you for seeking truth while still seeking Christ. As long as we keep Him the focus, we will find the truth. As you search and study just remember this: study to find what is true instead of studying to defend and back up what you’ve been taught as truth.

      Be blessed,

      Jackson

  9. I just heard about your story today. It’s highly relevant to me right now b/c I’m making a feature length documentary about the hell debate called “Hellbound?” One of the people we interviewed was Chad Holtz, who lost his position as pastor for similar reasons. I’ll have to take a look at your book. You can look us up at http://www.hellboundthemovie.com.
