Who can help you to recover?

I realise that I have not posted for a while as I have been focussing on connecting with doctors, psychologists and most recently mindfulness practitioners, seeking to deepen the understanding of the nature of functional conditions and how best to provide means to heal.

This has been very rewarding as I learn so much from other practitioners and seek means to connect patients with sources of support.

I hope that my book allows you to begin this journey yourself and seek out people with a knowledge of functional conditions. While there are a number of my medical colleagues who have an interest in functional conditions, it is a good idea for you to look beyond us doctors to find the best means for you.

Here’s a list of health practitioners and healers who may help (in no particular order):

  • physiotherapists

  • psychologists

  • psychotherapists

  • occupational therapists

  • social workers

  • acupuncturists

  • yoga teachers

  • spiritual practitioners

  • mindfulness and meditation teachers

You need to be discerning and seek a mutually trusting relationship that can progress you through your experiences towards understanding.

You may need a number of different types of therapy, which I discuss in my book.

Best wishes on your journey to recovery.
